Tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT), a rare, nonmalignant tumor, arises from synovium in joints, bursae, and tendon sheaths. The diffuse type often presents aggressively, with high recurrence rates following surgery. The FDA recently approved the first medication for adult patients with symptomatic TGCT associated with severe morbidity or functional limitations and not amenable to improvement with surgery.
